On a Windy Day

I have too much data on my phone. I'm sure there are people out there who have more than I but 7GB of texts sure seems like a lot to me. I'm running out of room for pictures of all my kids, which is a big problem seeing as my DSLR just doesn't fit as easily into my pocket as my iPhone. I need to delete the thousands of texts from my mother and sister but it just seems wrong. I have made a habit of texting them all the funny little things the kids do and they keep telling me I should write a book, or a sitcom or a movie and, well, I simply don't want to forget these sweet innocent stories once they are older.
So I have been tediously copying and pasting individual texts into the Notes app and emailing them to myself to save on my desktop and compile chronologically into a journal. One day, you know I will have tons of time and do something amazing with all of it and you will have heard about it here first, you know, when the book, movie, or sitcom is finally done...or perhaps something less grand.
So I came across a text from my mother and I thought hey, I'm in front of the computer, now's as good a time as any to revive the'ol blog and share this little gem. The theme "be still" has been has been rolling around my thoughts the last couple weeks. We read about Jesus calming the storm in Luke in our women's bible study and heard and read Beth Moore's insight on it as well as singing a few songs yesterday morning at church, about being still. Such good stuff, I'm taken by the thought that a raging storm was nothing more than a lullaby to our God as He slept through it. I don't want to get too serious with this though and honestly I think sometimes that's the point-we worry too much about our problems...
So the text I got from my mom some time ago, on a windy day much like today serves to be a great example. One of her clients had mentioned to her how windy it was on a particular day "...and the birds were just gliding along, resting in the wind, but when they tried to flap their wings, she noticed they lost control and were all floppy, going every which way!"
"There's a sermon in there," I answered back.
"...and it's funny!" replied my mom, "Don't flap your wings in the storm-just rest in God's power to hold you up!"
To which I responded, "Exactly-or you may end up looking ridiculous!"
